Cobourg Police – Warrant Arrests

In the early afternoon on Thursday, March 4, 2021, officers with the Durham Regional Police Service located a
man sought by the Cobourg Police Service on the strength of an outstanding arrest warrant.
As a result of a subsequent investigation, 31-year-old Thomas WYBENGA of Courtice, Ontario, was arrested
and charged with the following:

Fail to Attend for Printing Contrary to Section 145(4)(b) of the Criminal Code

Fail to Attend Court After Having Appeared Contrary to Section 145(2)(b) of the Criminal Code

Causing A Disturbance Contrary to Section 175(1)(a) of the Criminal Code x2

Resist Arrest Contrary to Section Contrary Section 270(1)(b) of the Criminal Code

Assault Police Officer Contrary to Section 270(1)(b) of Criminal Code

Being Intoxicated in a Public Place Contrary to Section 31(4) of the Liquor License Act
WYBENGA was released from police custody with a future court date.


Later that afternoon, officers on patrol in downtown Cobourg observed a man currently sought by the
Cobourg Police Service on the strength of an outstanding arrest warrant.
As a result, 34-year-old Justin BEST, of Cobourg, was arrested and charged with the following:

Fail to Attend Court Contrary to Section 145(2)(b) of the Criminal Code

Mischief Under $5000.00 Contrary to Section 430(4) of the Criminal Code

Theft Under $5,000.00 Contrary to Section 334(b) of the Criminal Code

Escape Lawful Custody Contrary to Section 145(1) of the Criminal Code
BEST was released from police custody with a future court date.
