One thing lost to COVID-19 is the chance for a proper celebration of achievement, and that’s true for the three Northumberland Paramedics members recently singled out for exemplary service.
Paramedic Chief Susan Brown could at least share the good news this week with county council’s Community Health standing committee.
Nominations are accepted annually by the Ontario Association of Paramedic Chiefs awards committee, Brown said, so the three members who have been honoured with Emergency Medical Services Medals were nominated by her predecessor William Detlor.
They have since learned that paramedics Shawn Silvestri and Dan Dulmage have received the award (for which only those who have served 20 years of exemplary services are eligible).
Keith Barrett, a previous recipient of the award, got his 30-year bar to honour three decades of exemplary service.
Though the usual celebration would include being honoured at a gala, Brown said, letters of congratulations have gone out and the celebration will happen later.
“I am so thrilled, and I think it’s great these three people have received this prestigious award,” she said.
