Cobourg Council – Police Outbreak is Over

In City Hall

Councillor Aaron Burchat announced at this week’s council meeting that the COVID-19 outbreak at the Cobourg Police station is over as of last week.

“All affected staff are back to work and in good health, which is good news all around,” Burchat said.

“I’d like to thank all the Cobourg Police Service members for their quick action to help reduce the risk with no disruptions to service.”

Burchat commended the officers’ work in the community with such organizations as YMCA Northumberland and local schools.

Officers also show a great deal of support for community initiatives, most recently the Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser for the Green Wood Coalition.

Burchat also had news to offer on the fire department, in the form of statistics for the month of January – 155 emergency calls, 46 training sessions and 59 fire-prevention activities.

For those wondering what members of the fire services were doing at the harbour over the weekend, he added, that was their annual ice-water rescue-skills training.
