City of Kawartha Lakes Police – Community Member Assists Police

In Police Blotter

On February 2, 2021 at 2:59pm, the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service received a call from a concerned citizen who had observed, an elderly male walking on the ice with his cane. Police began searching the Lindsay Street North area of the Scugog River where the man was last seen.

Access to the river in the area was blocked, making it difficult for officers to find any trace of the male. While scouring the area police spoke with a very helpful community member, Mr. Scott Moggach who was in the area practicing flying his new drone. Moggach, offered to help and was able to assist officers in locating tracks in the snow, which led police to the male’s residence where he was located safe and sound.

Our Mission at the Kawartha Lakes Police Service: “We will lead our community in in increasing its, collective capacity to share responsibility for everyone’s safety, security and well-being. Thank you, to the citizens of Kawartha Lakes who regularly step up and assist in making our community a safer place to live, work and play.
