Today’s Northumberland has confirmed a member of the library staff has tested positive for COVID-19.

In an interview on Thursday, January 14, 2021, Cobourg Public Library Tammy Robinson said the staff member last worked on January 5, 2021.

After going for a test on the same date, the person was told on January 11 they had a confirmed case of COVID-19.

Members of the Cobourg Emergency Control Group, the Cobourg Library Board and staff were informed also on January 11.

The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit was told on January 12.

“We discussed the procedures for cleaning, physical distancing, PPE and how we have adjusted our workflows, and it has been determined that our workplace is a low-risk contact point for our staff and visitors,” said Robinson.

“It has been determined that there is no need for Public Health to contact those who may have had exposure as the risk is quite low.”

At the time the person last worked they were doing curbside pickup at the library and the risk is also, “very low to members of the public who participated in our curbside service – as distancing, PPE, and hand hygiene were all employed.”

“At this time, no changes to our practices are necessary, and we are to continue to be vigilant in protecting ourselves, our staff and the public.”
