In response to a confirmed case of COVID-19 at the Port Hope Conversion Facility on December 20, 2020, Cameco arranged for a third-party medical provider to administer onsite COVID-19 rapid testing to take place on Monday, December 21.
No employees had close contact with the positive case according to Health Canada guidelines. However, out of an abundance of caution, a number of employees who were identified as having interacted with the positive case were prioritized for testing.
In all situations, employees were wearing masks and physical distancing. Additional testing was offered to employees on a voluntary basis which was completed Tuesday, December 22.
Cameco is pleased to share that all the results are negative. Employees who were tested have been notified of their individual results.
Work to safely restart the UF6 plant is already underway.
