Caroling With the Donkeys at PrimRose Donkey Sanctuary

In Community, Local

PrimRose Donkey Sanctuary in Roseneath celebrated the Christmas season with Caroling with The Donkeys on Sunday, December 13, 2020.

The star attraction for the day was PrimRose whom the registered charity is named after.

Many of the volunteers and owner Sheila Burns were excited for the event, but PrimRose was stubborn as a – donkey and needed a bit of coaxing getting her Christmas hat on for the event.

The Sanctuary is dedicated to the rescue, protection, and rehabilitation of abused, neglected, and unwanted donkeys, mules and hinnies.

It’s also a place to educate the public about donkey’s who are not a stubborn, dumb or vicious animal (most times); but a stoic, loyal and very intelligent animal who will risk its life to protect its charges, including humans.

In normal times, the Sanctuary would welcome visitors throughout the year, but due to COVID-19, they had to hold a virtual Carolling with the Donkeys on Sunday.

Burns said because they’ve had no visitors, like everywhere they are struggling, but getting by at this point.
