Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office Called In To Investigate Possible Explosion in Garage

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office has been called in to investigate a fire that damaged a garage in Hamilton Township on Sunday, December 13, 2020.

At approximately 6:45 p.m. all stations with Hamilton Township Fire Department responded to a possible structure fire in a garage on Sunset Driver, just off Oliver’s Lane north of Cobourg.

When fire crews arrived heavy smoke was coming from the garage that housed three vehicles but there was no flames visible.

Deputy Chief Mike Robinson said there is nothing criminal in nature concerning the fire, but given that there may have been an explosion if follows under the guidelines of having the OFM called in to investigate to determine a cause.
