Cobourg Police – Woman Arrested for Shoplifting

On Sunday, October 11th, 2020, at approximately 11:00 am officers responded to a Strathy Road business for a shoplift in progress. A woman had been observed by Loss Prevention Officers selecting merchandise, concealing it, and exiting the store, making no attempts to pay for the items.

As a result of police investigation, 25-year-old Elizabeth COWIN of Roseneath was arrested and charged with
the following offences:

1. Theft Under $5000 – contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code

2. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 – contrary to section 355(b) of the Criminal
Code

COWIN was released on an Appearance Notice with a later court date.
