Update – “Isolated Case” of COVID-19 at Legion Village

In Editor Choice, Local

Legion Village is not in an outbreak stage with COVID-19 said the Executive Director of the facility in Cobourg.

Today’s Northumberland first reported that one resident has tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, September 23, 2020.

“We have word from the HKPRDHU (Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit) that we are NOT in outbreak,” said Executive Director Sherry Gibson in an e-mail to Today’s Northumberland.

“The one resident is an isolated case and was immediately quarantined in her own apartment so deemed low risk.”

Gibson said she gives, “praise to staff for handling the situation properly and maintaining a high level of cleanliness in the building. That, together with the processes we have implemented and maintained from mid March, have put us in a good position to deal with this.”

There will be enhanced surveillance by staff until the situation has been cleared.

“I’d like to reassure the community that we take our responsibility to our residents, staff and the general public very seriously so until further notice no visitors will be allowed into the building, however essential visits (from health care partners and caregivers, palliative care) will continue to take place.“
