Durham Police – One Arrested After Maserati Collides With Two Other Vehicles in Whitby

A 21-year-old Montreal male was arrested after his rental vehicle collided with two other vehicles before striking a light standard Monday night in Whitby.

On Monday, September 14, 2020, at approximately 10:30 p.m., members of Central West Division responded to a serious collision involving three vehicles in the area of Victoria Street and Gordon Street in Whitby. The suspect, who was seen operating a black Maserati at a high rate of speed, lost control on the eastbound lanes of Victoria Street and struck the center median before hitting a grey Honda sedan. The Maserati continued spinning and then struck a Tesla SUV before striking a light standard and knocking it down. The suspect suffered minor injuries and was able to get out of his vehicle, which became fully engulfed in flames.

The driver of the Maserati was arrested and charged. The suspect vehicle sustained extensive damage and the two other vehicles had significant damage. There were only minor injuries as a result of the collision.

Wassim NEDJAR, age 21, of Montreal is charged with Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance. He was held for a bail hearing.
