Local media were given a tour of Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre on Ontario Street in Hamilton Township on Wednesday, September 2, 2020

Chief Executive Officer with Community Care Northumberland, Trish Baird said it best when she called Ed’s House a “jewel for our community.”

“I’m thrilled to be able to show people around Ed’s House.”

“This has been a four year journey for myself and many others.”

From the shovels in the ground to completion Baird said it took just over a year to complete.

The official ribbon cutting will be on Thursday, September 3, 2020 with dignitaries, but media was given a sneak peak at the facility on Wednesday.

Services at Ed’s House include six private residence suites, a dedicated room with ample space and natural light for meeting the spiritual needs of clients and their loved ones, quiet spaces available for family meetings, a welcoming café, a spacious living room and cozy family room with a fireplace, an accessible education and support centre for resident and community hospice services.

Ed’s House will offer all the hospice services (visiting hospice services) currently provided by Community Care Northumberland, along with providing end of life care (resident hospice services) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at no cost to those receiving the service.

Baird said they are hoping to accept residents by September 22.
