On Monday August 24, 2020, at approximately 9:30 pm, members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with Alnwick-Haldimand Township Fire Department and paramedic services, responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on County Road 18 north of Lilac Valley Road.
Officers located a black 4 door sedan with significant damage after it was reportedly driven off the roadway and rolled into the ditch. The driver who was assessed by paramedics at the scene sustained only minor injuries and was found to be under the influence of alcohol.
As a result of the investigation Cameron Gervais (age 22) of Alderville First Nation, Ontario, was arrested and charged with:
· Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused received additional charges under the Highway Traffic Act and Cannabis Control Act and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on December 2, 2020.
