Cobourg Police – Cobourg Resident Charged With Impaired

On Sunday, July 26th, at 8:59 pm, police were dispatched to the northeast area of the Town of Cobourg on a report of a possible impaired driver.

Police located the motor vehicle in the northcentral region of Cobourg. Police spoke with the driver, who failed to identify himself.
As a result of a police investigation, Devin VUGTS, a 33-year-old male from Cobourg, was arrested.

The accused resisted arrest.
VUGTS was charged with the following:
1. Operation while Impaired – Contrary to Section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of
Canada

2. Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) – Contrary to Section
320.13(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada

3. Obstruct Peace Officer – Contrary to Section 129(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

4. Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest – Contrary to Section 270(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of
Canada

5. Novice Driver – B.A.C. Above Zero – Contrary to Section 44.1(3) of the Highway Traffic Act

6. Driver Fail to Give Identification – Contrary to Section 33(3) of the Highway Traffic Act

VUGTS was released on an undertaking with conditions.
