Quinte West OPP – Assault and Weapons Investigation Underway Four Persons Charged

On Sunday July 19, 2020, members of the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) commenced an investigation into an incident that took place at a residence on Glen Miller Road in the City of Quinte West.

It was reported to police that approximately 10 people attended the residence around 2:00 a.m. and an assault took place. Two people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation was assisted by members of the Quinte West OPP Crime Unit. On Monday July 20, 2020, four people were arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

Ty GILROY, 23, Matthew HICKS, 30, Bret HILL, 22, and Cody HILL, 28, all of Quinte West, have each been charged with the following offences:
Assault Causing Bodily Harm – Two Counts
Trespassing at Night
Extortion
Mischief – destroys or damages property

Additionally, Cody HILL has been charged with Cruelty to Animals and Ty GILROY has an additional Assault charge.

The accused persons have been released fro m custody on an undertaking. They are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on September 17, 2020.

The investigation is continuing at this time. Updates will be provided as they become available.
