Highway 401 East of Cobourg Shut Down Following Motorcycle Collision

One person was airlifted to a trauma centre following a motorcycle collision on Highway 401, east of Cobourg on Monday, July 20, 2020.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. emergency services were notified of a collision on Highway 401 eastbound between Danforth Road East and Gully Road in the eastbound lanes.

The driver of the motorcycle was taken to hospital where he was airlifted to a trauma centre a short time later.

Highway 401 east of Cobourg was closed for several hours as members of the OPP Highway Traffic Collision Investigators examined the scene.

The motorcycle may have had mechanical failure which may have contributed to the collision.

Highway 401 was reopened at approximately 11 p.m.
