A local artist has helped put the spirit in Canada Day in Cobourg.

For over 10 hours (letters and leaf) on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, artist Jenny Duda patiently worked at created a red wool CANADA in the fence along the boardwalk in Victoria Park.

COVID put an end to the celebrations in Cobourg, but Duda who has created other works of art including a unicorn and heART

Duda was gifted the red wool blanket from Colleen Ross and on Monday evening spent four hours cutting it into strips for the art project the next day.

Along with the word CANADA spelled out along the fence, Duda also added a leaf.

Soon after starting the project, Duda found out that working with the wool was more tedious than fleece material which was used in previous projects.

Throughout the course of the day, Duda had many compliments from people walking along the boardwalk.

“I wanted the art to dominate instead of the fence barrier.”

With no Waterfront Festival this year, this was Duda’s Canada day gift to anyone walking along the boardwalk on July 1 who maybe wanted to stop for a photo.
