Heroes Highway Ride Thunders Down Highway of Heroes from Trenton to Toronto

Hundreds of motorcycles came out to the unofficial Heroes Highway Ride on June 6, 2020.

The annual ride traditionally starts near CFB Trenton, but due to restrictions with COVID-19, the ride started at the Trenton On-Route on the westbound lanes of Highway 401 which is also known as the Highway of Heroes.

As the motorcycles were arriving, two OPP officers spoke with the creator of the Heroes Highway Ride, Lou DeVuono after police received a complaint about the number of motorcycles gathered because of COVID-19.

Police also stated they weren’t informed of the event, but DeVuono stated he had consulted with police about the event.

Today’s Northumberland asked OPP for comment but they referred any questions to the media relations officer who would be working on Monday.

“This year, as we do every year, we ride in Support of Canadian Forces, their families and our First Responders, but this year we must recognize the sacrifices of our Heath Care Front Line workers and Essential workers that have kept our economy running,” DeVuono stated online.

The Heroes Highway Ride left Trenton at 11 a.m. and headed along the Highway of Heroes throughout Northumberland County with the final destination of North York General Hospital.
