Members from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a yellow BMW 2 door sedan on Tuesday April 14, 2020 at approximately 1:00 pm after it was measured travelling 200 km/h on Highway 401 westbound in Port Hope near Wesleyville Road.
The 25-year-old driver from Mount Albert, Ontario was charged with:
Race a Motor Vehicle – Excessive Speed.
The accused had their driver’s licence suspended, the vehicle impounded for seven days and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on June 3, 2020.
The OPP would like to remind motorists that highway safety is a shared responsibility.
