As you are aware, The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared a Pandemic related to the COVID-19 virus. We have been following the situation very closely. Further, we have been using the information provided by Public Health Authorities, other service providers and from government to help guide our decision making.
Transition House will continue to monitor the situation regarding COVID- 19. We are committed to do our part in limiting the spread of this virus. Our focus is to protect both staff and clients that are accessing or living in the house. Effective today, for precautionary measures, here is what we are doing:
Screening:
We will be asking every individual entering the house the following questions:
1. Currently do you have a fever or a new onset of a cough or difficulty breathing?
2. Have you come into contact with anyone who has a fever, cough or difficulty breathing?
3. Have you travelled out of the county recently?
If the answer is yes, we will restrict access to the house and will ask the individual to remain on the porch until Telehealth has been called (1-866-797-0000) for direction. If transportation is immediately available, people will be asked to proceed to Northumberland Hills Hospital’s (NHH) assessment centre.
Reduced Access/Entry:
Another measure being used to protect our people is to reduce traffic through the house. Therefore, we will be having specific times available for house entry. Those times are: 9:00am; 12:00p; 5:00pm, 11:00pm and we will only allow screening for those who arrived by these times and will close screening within 30 minutes. Clients will be able to exit at any time; however, entry will be restricted to those times to ensure adequate staffing for screening upon entry.
At this time we will also pause on accepting donations as another way to reduce traffic. Although we are very thankful of all of our community support, we ask that they be held until this situation has passed.
