Following two straight 4-1 losses, the Northumberland Nighthawks are facing elimination from their Ontario Minor Hockey Association midget AA semifinal playoff series against the Newmarket Redmen.

Newmarket won the series opener on home ice this past Thursday night and then defeated the Nighthawks by the same score again Saturday afternoon at the Cobourg Community Centre.

Game 3 of the series is scheduled for Thursday night, March 5 in Newmarket at 8 p.m. The Redmen have a 4-0 lead in points (two for each win) and need six points to clinch the series victory.

The Nighthawks will need a win or a tie to bring the series back to Cobourg for a fourth game, which would be played Friday, March 6 at 9 p.m. at the CCC.

If necessary, Game 5 is scheduled for Saturday, March 7 in Newmarket at 7 p.m. while a sixth-and-deciding contest would be played Sunday, March 8 at 5:15 p.m. in Cobourg.
