Northumberland OPP – Inmates Charged After Correctional Officer Assaulted

On January 16, 2020, members from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified of an assault that occurred at the Warkworth Institution involving an inmate and a Correctional Officer.

The Warkworth Institution is a medium-security prison facility located in the Municipality of Brighton, Ontario, between the communities of Meyersburg and Warkworth.

An investigation was conducted by the Northumberland OPP Crime Unit with assistance from Correctional Services of Canada. As a result, three inmates have been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada.

Norman TYNES (age 49), and Fabricio CALDERON (age 44) have been charged with:
· Obstruct Peace Officer.

Taylor-Bailey DEXTER (age 28) was charged with:
· Assault Peace Officer –Cause Bodily Harm
· Resist Peace Officer.

Court appearances for the three accused are scheduled on dates in February and March 2020.
