Cobourg Council – New DocuPet System is a Hit

In City Hall

By Cecilia Nasmith/Today’s Northumberand
Councillor Aaron Burchat shared with council Monday night some details on the success of the new dog-tag system that took effect January 15.

“Residents have been able to use the new DocuPet from the comfort of their homes, offices or e-mail. Or they can go the traditional avenue of coming in and registering in the clerk’s office,” Burchat said.

“Licensing dogs in the Town of Cobourg is now easier and more modernized for everyone.”

Burchat mentioned the Home Safe lost-pet service and the optional designer tags that are linked to secure on-line profiles and are engraved with the pet’s name and phone number on the back at no additional cost. Or you can make your renewals with your old tags and never need new ones.

“It’s quite a good program, and I am very happy the clerk’s department pushed us in this direction.

“So far, we have over 200 licenses in the first two weeks. I think it’s very encouraging that people are coming in and getting it done.”
