Cobourg Police – Presence of “Flualprazolam” in Xanax Pills Seized in Cobourg

In Police Blotter

On Wednesday, January 15th, 2020, the Cobourg Police received notification from Health Canada of the presence of Flualprazolam in Xanax pills that were seized during a recent investigation.

Flualprazolam is considered a “designer drug” and is a central nervous system depressant that has similar affects as Xanax but is more potent in most cases, according to the World Health Organization.

The Cobourg Police would like to remind people that if you locate anything suspected of being narcotics, not to handle it and contact police immediately.

Further, if you are using narcotics, ensure that you do so with other people present and take necessary precautions to ensure emergency services can be notified. Finally, should you encounter someone who you suspect is overdosing, contact emergency services as soon as possible.

The Good Samaritan Act ensures that fear of legal repercussion never prevents someone from trying to help in an emergency, which includes, but is not limited to, those engaging in the consumption of illicit narcotics.
