Brighton Man Is Offering Everything In His Bank Account For The Return Of His Wife’s Ashes

A Brighton man is offering everything in his bank account as a reward in hopes of getting a urn containing his wife’s ashes back.

Just days before Christmas a number of Kevin Matthews belongings were taken from his home during a break-in and robbery.

Northumberland OPP were called to the scene and are continuing to investigate.

Shortly after the break-in, Matthews discovered the urn containing his wife’s ashes was missing from the home.

And just recently he discovered his children’s four necklaces containing ashes from their mother were also missing.

“All that matters is my wife’s urn and my kids necklaces with my wife’s ashes in them.”

The couple met shortly after high school and there was an instant attraction to each other.

Over the course of 15-years together, the couple had four children, ages thirteen, eight, seven and three-years-old.

But on September 8, 2017, Kortney passed away at 32-years-old from cancer and Matthews life has been shattered ever since.

The 36-year-old single father is now trying to raise four children on his own with the help of family and friends.

It’s been just over two years since Kortney passed and life has been a daily struggle for the family.

The urn containing her ashes sat on the mantle above the fireplace in the living room.

A witness has come forward saying they saw a suspect with the urn leaving Matthew’s house, but it hasn’t been recovered.

Through social media, rumour is the ashes might be thrown away this weekend. That rumour is not confirmed, but Matthews is devastated.

The urn and four necklaces are all the family has from Kortney.

Matthews said he’d give anything to get them back and he is offering just that.

‘I’m offering everything in my bank account which is $500,” said Matthews speaking to Today’s Northumberland.

“It was to go to my mortgage payment, but I want the urn back more than I care about my mortgage payment.”

“I lost my wife already. The information we’ve been given is her urn is going to be destroyed this weekend. I can’t lose her again.”

Anyone who has any information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222
