Tie Game Spoiled By After Game Altercation In League of Eastern Ontario in Warkworth

In Hockey

A hard fought game was marred by an after game altercation in Warkworth on Sunday, January 12, 2020.

The game ended in a 4-4 tie between the Centre Hastings Grizzlies against the Warkworth Bulldogs in midget action for the LEO (League of Eastern Ontario).

The Bulldogs came out with a 2-0 lead with goals by Graison Morrision with an assist by Patrick Hannigan at 10:13 of the first period.

Kane McIvor got the second goal, unassisted for the Bulldogs at 9:41 of the first period.

The Grizzlies came back and scored four straight goals taking the lead 4-2 before Bulldogs player Corby Fisher scored at 7:05 of the second period with an assist by Patrick Hannigan.

The final goal of the game was by Bulldogs player Graison Morrision at 9:20 of the third period.

Although the game wasn’t rough in any sense of the term, tempers flared off the ice as both teams made their way to the dressing rooms after the final buzzer.

It’s unknown exactly what happened, but tempers from parents and players erupted in the foyer. Coaches from both teams and referees tried to restore order amongst the crowd.

Just as things calmed down it appeared a player from the Grizzlies made his way through the girls change room and back out into the foyer where he aggressively and physically grabbed a parent from the Bulldogs.

Numerous people once again became involved and yelling once again ensued.

Referees and coaches once again had to step in and one parent had to physically restrain the player from the Grizzlies.
