Cramahe Township Fire Department Responds To Transport Fire on Highway 401

Cramahe Township Fire Department responded to a tractor trailer fire on Monday, November 25, 2019 in the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 east of Colborne shortly after 6 p.m.

The transport was carrying frozen meat for pet food processing. The fire appeared to have started within the back wheels of the driver side of the trailer. The driver was able to disconnect the trailer and pull the truck ahead. Passers by stopped and tried using portable fire extinguishers but the fire was to well involved.

Cramahe Fire arrived and extinguished the blaze. No exact word on cause or damage amount.
