Cobourg Police – Drug and Fail To Comply with Conditions Arrests

On October 30th, 2019 in the early morning hours the Cobourg Police Service attended a Cobourg Motel to investigate a report of a wanted male party in the area. Uniform members of the Cobourg Police Service investigated and arrested 43-year-old Eric BREMNER on the strength of an outstanding Warrant.

During the investigation uniform members of the Cobourg Police Service arrested 21-year-old female, Karleigh HORSLEY, 28-year-old male, Matthew LEBOLD and BREMNER, all of Cobourg for possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance in schedule IV – benzodiazepine (diazepam).

As a result of the investigation a quantity of benzodiazepine and drug paraphernalia were seized as offence related property.

LEBOLD was further found in possession of a quantity of Canadian cash currency which was seized as offence related property.

BREMNER was found to be failing to comply to court-imposed release conditions.

The charges for the three accused are as follows:

BREMNER:
1. Possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule IV substance- benzodiazepine (diazepam) contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
2. Fail to comply with probation-contrary to Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code;
3. Fail to comply with recognizance-contrary to Section 145(3) of the Criminal Code;
4. Fail to comply with recognizance-contrary to Section 145(3) of the Criminal Code;
5. Fail to comply with recognizance-contrary to Section 145(3) of the Criminal Code.

HORSLEY:
1. Possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule IV substance- benzodiazepine (diazepam) contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

LEBOLD:
1. Possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule IV substance- benzodiazepine (diazepam) contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
2. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000- contrary to Section 355(b) of the Criminal Code.

HORSLEY and LEBOLD were both released on a Promise to Appear with an Officer in Charge Undertaking with a future court date and BREMNER was held in custody pending a show cause bail hearing.
