Northumberland Fare Share Food Banks Gets Help From Northumberland Nighthawks

In Community, Hockey

Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank at Northam Industrial Park received help over the weekend sorting through items.

The Northumberland Nighthawks Minor Bantam AA spent the morning on Saturday, October 5, 2019 sorting through the food drives from three elementary Catholic schools.

Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank manager Lori Vout said the help was very much appreciated from the entire team.

“From here on in, until the end of the year, our numbers will go up, plus the food starts pouring in which is wonderful. It’s the younger generation learning about what’s going on in their own neighbourhoods. That there are people in need and they can do something to help.”

The Food Bank serves approximately 70-90 households in a week just in the Cobourg, Baltimore, Port Hope area.

“We live in a most generous community. Cobourg and Port Hope – at Christmas time the money comes in and it’s what keeps us going the rest of the year.”

The Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank is open on Wednesday from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. till 8 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m.
