Transition House Issues Release After Death of Woman At Facility

The Board of Transition House Shelter regrets to advise of the death of a Transition House client. Emergency services were called to Transition House at approximately 11.35pm. on September 30, when a client was found to be unresponsive.

Unfortunately, efforts to resuscitate this individual were not successful. “Transition House staff and clients mourn this tragic loss of life, and we extend our sincerest condolences to this individual’s family and friends,” states Board Chair Marsha Jones.

“We appreciate the rapid and professional response of local emergency services personnel, as well as the outpouring of support from our community partners, as we continue to provide compassionate refuge and transitional support to Northumberland residents in need.”

Cause of death is not known at this time. There were no risks to the health or safety of other Transition House clients or staff, in connection with this incident. Transition House continues to operate at full capacity.
