UPDATE – Several Break-Ins At Businesses In Cobourg and Port Hope

In Police Blotter

Cobourg and Port Hope Police Services are investigating after several break-ins took place in the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 25, 2019.

Shortly before 4 a.m. Port Hope Police responded to a break and enter at Dreams Café located on Ontario Street in downtown Port Hope.
Upon arrival police observed entry was made into the business by smashing the Queen Street glass entrance door.

Once inside suspect/s took a small amount of currency and left the store leaving in a dark coloured vehicle heading southbound on Ontario Street.

Shortly after at 4:42 a.m. police were notified of an alarm at JJ Steak and Burgers Restaurant on Elgin Street, just east of Division Street in Cobourg.

The store has double-pane windows and when the first glass broke an audible alarm sounded and no entry was gained.

At approximately 5:40 a.m. Cobourg Police were notified by a citizen that two stores had been broken into on King Street.

The front glass door of the Shawarma House and Pizza restaurant located at 144 King Street West was smashed and entry was gained to the business.

Suspects then smashed the glass door of a Photography Studio located directly beside the restaurant and entry was gained.

It’s believed at least one of the suspects was cut on the glass while entering the Shawarma House and Pizza restaurant. There was numerous drops of blood located inside the photography studio and outside.

Dimitri’s Restaurant located at 609 William Street also had the front glass door smashed and suspect/s entered the store and took a small amount of cash and liquor bottles.

The cash drawer from Dreamer’s Café was located in the backyard of a home on Otto Driver directly behind Motel 401 on Division Street in Cobourg.

Police are investigating surveillance cameras located in at least one of the businesses and are requesting assistance from any business or individual with recording devices in these areas to check for potentially suspect behaviour from this time period.
