Peterborough County OPP – Driver Stopped for Speeding Charged with Impaired (Name Released)

A driver has been charged with Impaired driving after their vehicle was stopped for speeding on Highway 28.

On March 24, 2024, at approximately 7:00pm, the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle for speeding on Highway 28 in Douro-Dummer Township. While dealing with the driver, the officer detected an odour of alcohol and made an Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand. The driver provided a sample of his breath and as a result was arrested.

James WILKINSON (age 30) of Selwyn Township, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on April 30, 2024.
