Durham Police – Male Charged with Conspiring to Commit Murder

An Ajax male has been charged with conspiring to commit murder after a lengthy investigation into a plot to murder a couple living in Jamaica.

In late May 2019, the DRPS received information from the R.C.M.P. of a plot to murder two Jamaican residents. The DRPS Homicide Unit, began a coordinated investigation into this murder plot with the assistance of the R.C.M.P., Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Major Organized Crime and Anti-Corruption Unit (MOCA), based in Jamaica.

Investigation confirmed that a Canadian citizen had travelled to Jamaica in mid-May 2019 to help plan the murder. The murders did not proceed and the Jamaican couple were unharmed.

On Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at approximately 7 a.m., a 56-year-old Ajax male, was arrested while driving in the Highway 401/Brock Road area of Pickering.

Fitz HUTCHINSON, age 56, of Camilleri Road in Ajax has been charged with Conspiracy to Murder and Counselling Offence That is Not Committed. He was held for a bail hearing.
