Cobourg Welcomes Film Crew

In City Hall

The Town of Cobourg has announced it’s expecting some 100 actors and 40 production trucks to roll into town Aug. 26 to 28 for the filming of a new Netflix TV series Ginny & Georgia.

This 10-episode show is a mother-and-daughter coming-of-age series featuring Antonia Gentry as 15-year-old Ginny Miller – who often feels more mature than her 30-year-old mother Georgia (played by Brianne Howy of The Passage).

Georgia wants to leave her footloose years behind and settle down in the charming New England town of Wellsbury, Mass. For Ginny, this brings the challenges of a prestigious school, rising popularity and complicated love interests.

The production company G2G Series Inc. will film in various Cobourg locations to depict mother and daughter driving through their new hometown. Citizens will notice such changes as American flags replacing the Canadian ones at Victoria Hall and American mailboxes on downtown sidewalks.

Filming locations will include the Cobourg Lawn Bowling Club (177 Church St.), St. Peter’s Anglican Church (240 College St.), Audrey’s In Town Fashions (19 King St. W.) and El Camino (74 King St. W.), as well as downtown streets and Victoria Park.

Film production vehicles arriving Monday, Aug. 26, will park in assigned areas at the Memorial Arena parking lot and the Albert Street parking lot. As a result, the Albert Street lot will be closed to the public from Aug. 26 through 28, and a number of parking meters will be put out of use each day (which G2G Series will be paying for the use of).

The Town of Cobourg is supportive of this project. Cobourg Police Service will be working directly with the production company to ensure safety and traffic control, and G2G thanks everyone for their co-operation and consideration.
