YMCA Lifeguards Practicing Their Skills Along Cobourg Beach

In Editor Choice, Local

Lifeguards from the YMCA Northumberland were practicing their skills along the shores of Cobourg beach on Thursday, August 1, 2019.

From a bloody nose, to lost children, heat exhaustion, burned feet from the sand and even drowning victims, upwards of 30 lifeguards went over different scenarios preparing for the upcoming weekend.

With the annual Sandcastle Festival taking place there will likely be thousands of people along the beach making it the busiest time of the year along the shoreline of Lake Ontario in Cobourg.

The lifeguards go over the different scenarios every two weeks including some of what they’ve experienced while on duty.

After each scenario members held a de-briefing on what was done right and also anything that needs to be worked on to make things better.
