Slippery Drive Along William Street In Cobourg

In Editor Choice, Local

A oily substance along William Street created a few tense moments for drivers on Tuesday, July 30, 2019.

Numerous drivers reported to Today’s Northumberland around 7 a.m. all four lanes of William Street in the area of Health Street were extremely slippery.

Some drivers said their vehicle spun sideways while others said they were lucky to avoid a collision trying to stop at the intersection.

Public Works crews from the Town of Cobourg put numerous bags of absorbing material along the lanes and were working to find the cause of the oil spill.

It’s expected the crews will be in the area clearing the storm drains and monitoring the situation.
