Peterborough County OPP – Investigating Fatal Collision on Highway 28

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews were called to assist at a collision on Highway 28 near Butler Driver in Woodview this morning at approximately 7:45am.

A commercial motor vehicle travelling northbound on Highway 28 collided with a pedestrian that was walking on the roadway. The pedestrian has died as a result of the collision. No other injuries were reported.

Highway 28 is currently closed between Northey’s Bay Road and Mt. Julian-Viamede Road while OPP members trained in collision reconstruction measure and document the scene.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation and the identity of the victim will not be released until next of kin are notified.
