Cobourg Police – Woman Arrested

At approximately 12:10 am, on July 23, 2019, Cobourg Police arrested a woman as a result of an on-going police investigation regarding stolen and unauthorized use of credit cards.

Heather Gill-Fallowfield, 48-year-old was charged with the following offences:
· Unauthorized Use of Credit Card Data contrary to Section 342(3) of the Criminal Code
· Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to Section 355(b) of the Criminal Code
· Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to Section 355(b) of the Criminal Code
· Breach of recognizance contrary to Section 145(3) of the Criminal Code
· Breach of probation X2 contrary to Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code

Heather Gill-Fallowfield was held for a bail hearing.

According to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre, Canadian Financial Institution reported losses nearly reaching one (1) billion dollars in the last two (2) years in credit card crimes. Cobourg police would like to remind businesses the importance of customers providing proper identification that matches the credit cards they’re using. And for credit card holders, if you suspect your credit card has been stolen, make sure it’s reported immediately to your financial institution to stop all future transactions and notify your local police.
