Stolen Vehicle Found In Murray Canal In Quinte West

In Editor Choice, Police Blotter

Quinte West OPP Crime Unit, Northumberland OPP and the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit were involved in dealing with another vehicle found in the Murray Canal in Quinte West on Tuesday, June 18, 2019.

The vehicle was spotted yesterday when police were dealing with a submerged vehicle where the bodies of two people were found inside along the Murray Canal in Northumberland County.

Divers returned to the area east of the Brighton Road swing bridge in Quinte West.

Through investigation police found out the Astro van was believed to have been reported stolen in 2006 and the year of the van is approximately 1996.

Divers confirmed there was no one inside the vehicle and it wasn’t causing a concern and was deep enough in the canal that it wouldn’t pose a navigation hazard so they left the vehicle.
