The Port Hope Police Service and Cobourg Police Service partnered again for this year’s annual Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) for Special Olympics.
The mission of the LETR is to increase awareness and raise funds for the Special Olympics and its Olympians. This year marks the 50th anniversary of Special Olympics and with the help from Port Hope and Cobourg services, $2.3 million was raised through the LETR last year.
Participants will be jogged, cycled, roller bladed or walking through Port Hope and Cobourg on on Wednesday, June 5 starting at the Port Hope Police Station.
After traveling through Port Hope the Torch Run started in Cobourg at Northumberland Mall headed down William Street before briefly stopping at Tim Horton’s to help support Tim Horton’s Camp Day before ending up with Special Olympians at Cobourg Collegiate Institute before ending the Torch Run at the Community Living West Northumberland building on Cottesmore Avenue.
