Exclusive – Local Health Unit Suspends Nearly 260 Students For Not Updating Immunization Records

Exclusive – A total 259 students have been suspended as a result of not updating their immunization records states the local health unit.
Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit Communications Officer Bill Eekhof said the suspensions took effect on Tuesday, April 23, 2019.
Previously, more than 1,000 students in Haliburton County, Northumberland County and City of Kawartha Lakes were notified if their immunization records were not up-to-date they would face suspension.
“We continue to work with these parents/guardians to ensure their students are updated with their immunization records — and miss as little school as possible,” Eekhof told Today’s Northumberland.
“We encourage any local families who receive these suspension orders to immediately contact the Health Unit to update their immunization records.”

Suspensions for elementary school students in our area do not take effect until April 29.
