Peterborough County OPP – Male Charged After Collision On Keene Road

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting radar patrol this morning at approximately 2:00am when they clocked a vehicle travelling at 144km/h in an 80km/h zone on Highway 7. The driver of the suspect vehicle shut off the headlights and sped away after officers activated their emergency lights and siren in an attempt to stop the vehicle. The suspect vehicle was located on Keene Road after failing to navigate a turn which resulted in a single motor vehicle collision.
Paul MacDonald (age 22) of Peterborough, Ontario was charged with:
Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
Flight from peace officer
Use validation not furnished for vehicle
Owner operate motor vehicle on a highway-no insurance
Driving while under suspension
Fail to notify change of address
Drive motor vehicle, no validation on plate
Deface plate
Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
Use plate not authorized for vehicle
The accused was not injured in the collision.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on March 20, 2019.
