Breaking News Update – Serious Incident Closes Campbellford OPP Detachment

Deceased male found

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a possibly injured party lying on the ground on the property outside of the Campbellford OPP Detachment just before 9:00 am.

Officers quickly arrived on the scene and confirmed one person was deceased. Members of the Northumberland OPP Crime Unit in conjunction with the Ontario Coroner’s Office are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this death.

This incident is deemed non suspicious in nature and police confirm there is no risk to public safety. No officers were harmed as a result of this incident.

The Campbellford OPP Detachment will be closed for the remainder of the day but will resume regular business hours on February 5, 2019. This closure is necessary to enable officers to thoroughly conduct their investigation. Anyone needing assistance is being asked to attend either the Cobourg or Brighton OPP Detachments or by calling 1-888-310-1122.

Industrial drive was closed to traffic for several hours but has since reopened.
