Apartment Fire Sends One To Hospital In Cobourg

In Editor Choice, Local

One person was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation after a apartment fire in Cobourg on Wednesday, January 16, 2019.
Cobourg Fire Department were called to the University Avenue West apartment building at 2:48 p.m.
When crews arrived there was smoke coming from the second floor of the building. All occupants were out of the apartment building.
It’s believed a pot on the stove caught fire igniting cupboards above the stove. The tenant knocked down the flames, but crews went in and did overhaul to make sure there was no extension.
It’s unknown the amount of damage.
At least three vehicles went around a police cruiser with emergency lights flashing that was blocking westbound traffic due to the amount of emergency vehicles and firefighters on scene.
The police cruiser was set up at the corner of George Street and University Avenue West. Drivers were cautioned of their actions.
