OPP LOOKING FOR MISSING MALE

DECEASED MALE RECOVERED FROM BELMONT LAKE

The body of a deceased male was located in the Crowe River Bay area of Belmont Lake by the OPP helicopter and was recovered by the Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Fire Department. The male has been identified as Brian Tilbury (age 47) of Kitchener, Ontario.

The deceased will be transported to The Provincial Forensic Pathology Unit at the Forensic Services and Coroners Complex in Toronto for a post mortem examination.

The accident remains under investigation.

The Peterborough County OPP is advising those using snowmobiles and ATV’s to avoid driving on lakes and rivers. If it can’t be avoided, check ice conditions beforehand, wear a floater suit and carry ice picks and make sure they are accessible. No ice is safe ice.

LAST SEEN ICE FISHING ON BELMONT LAKE

(HAVELOCK-BELMONT-METHUEN TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a missing male this morning. The male was last seen ice fishing on Belmont Lake in the Miles of Memories Road area on Saturday, January 12, 2019 between the hours of 3:30pm and 6:00pm

The male is Brian Tilbury (age 47) from Kitchener, Ontario and is described as follows:

  • Caucasian, 5’8″, brown hair, brown eyes
  • Wearing dark ice fishing gear with a camouflage design
  • Was driving a green all-terrain vehicle and not wearing a helmet

Police are concerned about the well-being of this male and are asking the public to assist with any information in regards to his whereabouts. Please contact the Peterbo rough County OPP at 705-742-0401 or 1-888-310-1122.
