Cobourg Police – Weekly Media Release

From the 22nd of October 2018 through the 28th of October 2018, the Cobourg Police Service responded to 179 occurrences including: 9 Motor Vehicle Collisions, 6 Alarm calls, 11 Theft/Shoplifting calls, 13 Suspicious Persons/Vehicles calls, 4 Domestic/Family Disputes, 3 Mischief calls, 4 Assault calls, and 1 Break and Enter. Here are some examples of calls for service for the week:

October 22:
· Police conducted a R.I.D.E. program in the Town of Cobourg, checking for impaired drivers. Cobourg Police are reminding the public that if they observe an impaired driver to call police immediately using 911.
· Police investigated a theft of change from an unlocked motor vehicle outside a private residence. The Cobourg Police Service is reminding people not to leave anything of value in their vehicles and to keep your vehicle locked at all times.

October 23:
· Police responded to a two vehicle motor vehicle collision on Elgin Street West. As a result of the police investigation, a woman was charged with Following too close under the Highway Traffic Act.
· Police attended a private residence and stood by and kept the peace while personal property was obtained

October 24:
· Police responded to a residence in north east Cobourg for a reported overdose where Narcan was administered. The person was subsequently transported to hospital by ambulance for precautionary reasons.

October 25:
· Police responded to a report of the theft of jewelry from a private residence. The investigation is ongoing.
· A man was charged with careless driving after a two vehicle collision on Elgin Street West.

October 26:
· Police responded to a Family dispute at a residence on King Street between a mother and son resulting in the son leaving the residence for the evening.
· Police on patrol observed a man known to be wanted on warrants. The man was arrested on the outstanding warrants and held in custody pending a Bail Hearing.

October 27:
· A woman was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place under the Liquor Licence Act after being found in an intoxicated state in the common area of an apartment complex.
· A man was charged with failing to report an accident after a vehicle was located abandoned in the ditch in the area of Brook Road North.

October 28:
· Police and Cobourg Fire responded to a two building fire on CN property. The suspicious fire was extinguished without injury and the incident is under investigation by the Cobourg Police Service in conjunction with members of the Ontario Office of the Fire Marshal.
· Police are investigating after several mischiefs were reported in the downtown area overnight.
