Port Hope – Mayor Bob Sanderson Challenges Mayoral Candidate Councillor Terry Hickey to Debate

In City Hall, Local

Mayor Bob Sanderson is pleased to announce that Councillor Terry Hickey has accepted his offer to participate in a one-on-one debate between the two Port Hope mayoral candidates.

The debate happens this Wednesday evening, September 26th. Doors open 6:30 pm, 7:00 pm debate kickoff, at at the Port Hope Lions Centre, 29 Thomas St., Port Hope.

The event, organized and paid for by the two candidates, will be a Q&A session between the two candidates for the position of Mayor of Municipality of Port Hope. It will be moderated by local radio host Jan Spragge.

The format is that each candidate gives the moderator three printed questions for his opponent on the evening of the event. The moderator presents them alternately to the respective candidates after a coin toss to see who goes first. The candidates get 3 minutes to answer each question. After each answer the author of the question gets 2 minutes for a rebuttal. Three questions each followed by a “questions from the floor” period wherein each candidate gets to answer questions put directly by members of the public. After the directed question is answered, the other candidate gets a brief rebuttal period.

All Council candidates are invited to attend and set up their own table to distribute material and collect names of potential volunteers.

It could be a memorable evening in Port Hope.
