Cobourg Police Clear Scene of Stabbing

Cobourg Police have cleared the scene of a stabbing on Elgin Street.

At approximately 7 p.m., Today’s Northumberland was there when officers took down the crime scene tape that surrounded the area where a man in his 40’s was stabbed numerous times.

The incident happened at approximately 1:30 a.m. outside a home on Elgin Street East, just east of D’Arcy Street on the south side of the road.

Reports indicate the man may have been stabbed at least 10 to 17 times.

The area police focused on for their investigation was between a Coleman camper trailer and a pickup truck in the driveway.

Blood was evident on the driveway near the front of the pickup truck and on the side of the trailer door as it was towed away by McCracken’s Towing to a secure compound.

The victim was airlifted to a trauma centre where police stated as of 7 p.m. on August 31, 2018 his condition was critical but stable.

A canine unit and members of  the OPP Emergency Response Team tracked and turned over to Cobourg Police three persons who are in custody.
