Northumberland County – Burn Bans and Restricted Burning

The Fire Chiefs of Northumberland County would like to clarify the issue of “Burn Bans” that may or may not be in place.
As of Friday, July 13, 2018, the following two municipalities have complete bans in place;
The Municipality of Brighton
The Township of Cramahe

As of Friday, July 13, 2018, the following municipalities have in place restricted burning;
Township of Alnwick Haldimand
Town of Cobourg
Township of Hamilton
Municipality of Port Hope
Municipality of Trent Hills

Restricted burning means that small contained campfires are allowed but no other open air burning will be approved. ie; no burning brush, no burning grass, no incinerators etc.

The fire services will continue monitoring conditions and will adjust the bans accordingly.
