Sexual assault Arrest:

A 29-year-old Norwood, Ontario man has been charged with sexual assault following a weekend incident.

On June 10, 2018 at approximately 3 a.m. the victim, a woman in her 20’s, and the accused were walking in the area of George and Sherbrooke Streets during which time the victim was sexually assaulted.

Police were contacted and attended the area. A short time later the accused was located in a Dalhousie Street parking lot where, as a result of the investigation, he was arrested and charged.

Stig-Christen Westrum, 29, of Asphodel 5th Line, Norwood, is charged with sexual assault.The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on July 5, 2018.

 

Dangerous driving/impaired Arrest:

A 27-year-old Peterborough man is facing several charges including dangerous driving and impaired driving following an investigation.

On June 8, 2018 at approximately 3:15 a.m. an officer on patrol saw a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed and running a red light in the area of Water and McDonnel Streets.

Shortly after, the same vehicle was then observed by another officer travelling at a high rate of speed in the area of Parkhill and Monaghan Roads. The vehicle was estimated to be travelling at approximately150km/h.

A short time later the suspect vehicle was located parked in the driveway of a Maple Crescent home. Officers then located two males hiding in the bushes. While speaking with the male driver of the suspect vehicle officers noted a strong odour of alcohol coming from the driver’s breath.

A subsequent breath test revealed the driver had more than the legal limit of alcohol in his system while operating a motor vehicle.

As a result of the investigation Kevin Richard Kemp, 27, of Kensington Drive, is charged with the following:

  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Impaired driving
  • Operating a motor vehicle with more than 80mgs of alcohol in blood
  • Trespassing at night

The accused was also served a 90 day automatic drivers licence suspension and a seven day vehicle impoundment.The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on June 28, 2018.

 

Break and enter Arrest:

A 32-year-old Bethany, Ontario man has been arrested and charged following a break-in at a Hunter Street West bar.

At approximately 7 p.m. on June 10, 2018 an unknown male entered a Hunter Street West bar through a rear door and removed an empty beer keg and a purse containing cash, personal identification and a credit card.

The male then attended a local drug store where the stolen credit card was fraudulently used to purchase a pre-paid VISA gift card. Through the investigation the accused was identified.

At approximately 8:40 p.m. that same day an officer located the male suspect in the area of Aylmer and Townsend Streets where he was placed under arrest for break and enter. During the search incident to arrest the accused was found to be in possession of an amount of cocaine and marijuana. The accused was also found to be in possession of the stolen credit card and the stolen personal identification cards.

As a result of the investigation Jesse Armitage, 32, of Dranoel Road, Bethany, is charged with the following:

  • Break and enter
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Use of credit card
  • Possession of a schedule I substance (Cocaine)
  • Possession of a schedule II substance (Marijuana under 30 grams)

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (June 11).

 

Over 80mg Arrest:

A call from a concerned citizen has led to the arrest of a 58-year-old Peterborough man for operating a motor vehicle with more than 80mgs blood alcohol content and care or control while impaired.

On June 6, 2018 at approximately 4:30 p.m. police received a call from a concerned citizen regarding a possible impaired driver in the area of George and Lake Streets. Officers were dispatched to the area and located the male driver outside the suspect vehicle that had broken down and was in the process of being towed.

While speaking with the male driver of the suspect vehicle officers noted an odour of alcohol coming from the driver’s breath.A subsequent breath test revealed the driver had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system while operating a motor vehicle.

As a result of the investigation Terry J. Kirkwood, 58, of no fixed address, Peterborough, is charged with operating a motor vehicle with more than 80mgs of alcohol in blood and care or control while impaired.

The accused was also served a 90 day automatic drivers licence suspension and a seven day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on June 28, 2018
